Imagine being swept back in time to find yourself trapped in the conflict of World War I. Meeting a soldier and knowing that at 15, he will be the youngest to die on the battlefield. Would you be able to change the path of time to save him?
On a visit to Ypres to visit the war graves, Rose hears the sound of marching outside her hotel. Looking out, she spots a dog which leads her to a young soldier whose name she has read on a gravestone
It was great describstion and she set the sceen very well. My favourite carictor is Joe because he is full of adventure. 3*
I thought that it was an excellent story about a underaged soldier who fought in the war. The soldier’s name was Joe but as he was born on Valentine’s day he was called Valentine’s Joe, which I thought was really clever. I also found the sense of horror in it when Rose knew something else was under the graves. 5*
Firstly, the storyline was brilliant and well thought out and it kept me read the whole way through. The aspct of Rose, repeatatively jumping back and forth in time to WWI is interesting and keeps you wondering when she will jump next. Also the aspect of it being set in WWI but it doesn’t central on the horrors of it. It centrals on a friendship. 4*
I think this book had a lot of good long and short sentences and gripped the reader leaving you in a sence of suspence and carried all the characters over for the whole lenth of the story like Tomy, grandad, murial and fred. 4.5*
I found this book really interesting by the way it you wants to read it more and more and more and more and more. It really grips you and it is emotional. She carries on even though a lot of bad things happened the year before. 4.5*
