Imagine being swept back in time to find yourself trapped in the conflict of World War I. Meeting a soldier and knowing that at 15, he will be the youngest to die on the battlefield. Would you be able to change the path of time to save him?
On a visit to Ypres to visit the war graves, Rose hears the sound of marching outside her hotel. Looking out, she spots a dog which leads her to a young soldier whose name she has read on a gravestone
This was a gripping and moving book. Rose (the main character) had a sad backstory and I like how, throughout the book, it gave references to it. Joe is also an amazing character, therefore I loved this book.
I loved this book because it was realistic but not realistic at the same time. I also really liked it because I found it quite sad at the end.
At the start Rose goes to Ypres in Belgium to see her uncle’s grave. When she is in the cemetry she sees valentine Joe’s grave and wonders how scary it must have been for him.
I enjoyed this book as you fest as if you were a character im the book also it helped me understand what life was like in the trenches.
Valentine Joe is a really good book that is happy and sad at the same time. It is about a girl called Rose who finds herself in the past and meets the youngest soldier to die in the 1st World War. She explores his story of his time in the war. I found this book really interesting and it is good for a short read with a good story.
