A dark night, a rain drenched road and a fatal car crash.
When Joe’s mum is killed in a hit and run accident, a trail of secrets and lies begins to unravel.
A fast and furious mystery packed with strange disappearances, mysterious characters and evil gangsters.
Will Joe’s search for the answers lead him to the truth or is he just chasing the dark?
I think it was really good because it was all about thrilling adventure and mystery. It is really cool.
This book is one of the best books I have read in a while which may seem strange due to my 4* rating. The book left me wanting more of the everyday thrills and spills of Joe’s life, with it being one of those books which I struggled to put down. The type of writing which Hepburn uses lets me, the reader, have an immediate “relationship” with Joe, making me connect with the storyline and especially due to the fact that Joe isn’t of a too disimilar age to myself, like I have previously said, it makes it hard to put the book down and not know the terrific adventures which he may decide to persue. In my opinion, to get 5* I would like a bit more description on the main characters; just so that we, the readers can enhance our grasp on what the characters look like.

The building up of horror in this book is fantastic, really creating a scene of mixed feelings. the descriptions were great and so were the places of dialogue.
Just as the blurb says, you don’t know if Joe is either discovering his family’s secret or a dark mystery. This is why the title is so effective. It practically just draws you to read it.
The thrill of excitement it gives you and the the twist-impossible to put down. Basically, I loved this book!
