This book was a very moving story. I love the way the author described his feelings and made the reader understand how he felt. I felt as if I could understand how sad Dak felt loosing his father in the end. I could even imagine walking into the huge aquarium and seeing all the lively, enthusiastic and different kinds of fish.

This is a marvelous book about a boy called Dak, who discovers in the aquarium that his dad isn’t dead but has turned into a fish. One day, Health and Safety inspectors examine the aquarium and say that the aquarium has to shut or pay £10,000, so Dak teams up with a girl called Violet and starts a campaign. They write a letter to the council and the Green Party and go to the news to earn sponsors. At the end of the book (spoiler…)

Sorry to cut your review a bit short Eesha but I didn’t want to give anything away.

I enjoyed this book because it is very exciting as well as emotional. One ordinary day Dak went to school normally , when he came back he found out that his dad had died. He really struggled with his loss and so did his mum. One day to take things off his mind, he went to the aquarium. When he arrived he found out that his dad had turned into a fish! Because of this, he came down every day and eventually even got a job feeding the fish there. One day something tragic happened, the council workers inspected the aquarium and called it unsafe, leaving it with a massive repair which can’t be afforded, it was up to Dak to save the aquarium.

Clownfish has been my favourite book so far. The author makes it easy for me to understand what it’s like for Dak. At the beginning, I didn’t really like Violet, but I started to warm up to her near the end. This book was very moving and almost made me cry! It made me feel like I was inside the story, and I really like that. I didn’t want to stop reading ! I would recommend this book to anyone, as it is full of lots of enjoyable things to read.

I thought this book was brilliant. I loved Dak’s imagination and love for the aquarium. I loved the style of writing, I hope Alan does more. I fell in love with Violet’s character straight away as it is very like my own. I think that Alan should do a book about similar characters to Violet because it would be interesting.
