Beetle Boyáby M G Leonard
Described as ôa darkly funny Dahl-esque adventureö, this book mixes science, mystery and humour. When scientist and entomologist Dr Bartholomew Cuttle mysteriously disappears from a locked room, his son Darkus is convinced he has been kidnapped. He sets out to find him accompanied by a giant rhinoceros beetle which seems to have taken on some human characteristics. But to add to the mystery, who are the villainous bickering cousins Gamble and Risk who live next door and could they be involved in the kidnapping?
it was a funny gripping book that was interesting through all the twists and turns of the story whilst teaching children bugs aren’t always as they seem.
my rating is 4/5
When I saw the book I thought it would have been a kids book and when I read it I really didn’t like it, sorry but this book isn’t my kind and definitely not a book I would read again.
I really enjoyed this story because it is based of a subject that is rarely mentioned in stories; beetles. when the beetle was first mentioned in the story it sounded very scary but as the story went on, more information about their species revealed how beautiful they are. The story reads well and would be a great read for any one.
I think this book that was quite boring. In my honest opinion I wouldn’t read it again and I think that this book is confusing.
When I first saw this book my reaction was
“Beetle Boy, Sounds like a book for little kids”, But when I read it, My eyes sure did open, It was outstanding! I was really surprised to find out this book is amazing! Adventure is my thing!
