Jeanie WaudbyÆs first novel,áô One of Usö is a pacey thriller which will appeal to those who enjoy books with a dystopian setting. It is set in a society where there are two groups, the Citizens and The Brotherhood.
The Brotherhood wear hoodies, the girls have to have long hair and wear long skirts, so they are easily identifiable from Citizens. The Brotherhood often resort to terrorist methods and the book opens with a bomb attack on a station. K is rescued from the attack and finds herself being recruited as a spy for the Citizens. She has to infiltrate a Brotherhood school to find out who is responsible for the attacks. As she gets to know the pupils there, she begins to question what she has been told. And then she discovers to her shock that everything is not as it seems
I absolutely loved this book! I couldn’t put it down. The storyline is extremely exciting and makes you hungry for more. I would really like a sequel to this fantastic story. I really liked how it relates to recent and modern feelings and events in todays society. I would definitely recommend this book.
An immersive book that you will be pulled into the second you open the first page. The ending is extremely anticlimactic but aside from that it is one of the best books I have ever read!
This book is my favourite by far because I really enjoyed the characters and how they got closer together at the end. I enjoyed the whole idea of it being a split society and them not liking each other. The ending was very good and nearly made me cry. I really likes the character of Gregg and I thought he was a mysterious character that always seems to be there. I really liked the idea that he was always there to protect her and how they go on holiday together. I would definitely recommend this book.
I loved this book i just couldnt put it down. I really enjoyed it.
“One of us” has solidified my respect for this genre in stone.
