Jeanie WaudbyÆs first novel,áô One of Usö is a pacey thriller which will appeal to those who enjoy books with a dystopian setting. It is set in a society where there are two groups, the Citizens and The Brotherhood.
The Brotherhood wear hoodies, the girls have to have long hair and wear long skirts, so they are easily identifiable from Citizens. The Brotherhood often resort to terrorist methods and the book opens with a bomb attack on a station. K is rescued from the attack and finds herself being recruited as a spy for the Citizens. She has to infiltrate a Brotherhood school to find out who is responsible for the attacks. As she gets to know the pupils there, she begins to question what she has been told. And then she discovers to her shock that everything is not as it seems

One of us is an AMAZING book! I am interested in mostly fantasy and not much of a “crime” kind of person but this book and has totally changed over my opinion! I mean…what a great story that is kind of happening right now! I have no words to describe this book but it is simply…AMAZING!
What a lovely comment Veronica! I felt very similarly.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a story about terrorism and a society split into two sides. This is very interesting as it is easy to imagine in the world. the book is definitely one of my favourite dystopias. the conflict and the characters felt very realistic and the romance didn’t feel forced. At some points the story felt off, that’s why I only gave it 4 stars.
The book was all right. However i think it needed a postscript.
Hi Nicholas, what would you have put in a postscript? Maybe she’ll write another book 😉 If you come to the Award Day you can ask her? Mrs Caller, Librarian@Bolton School
