It sounded like a respectable and worthy enough death for an explorer – tumbling from an ice bridge to be impaled upon a mammoth tusk – but Stella really, really didn’t want that to happen, just the same.
When Stella and three other junior explorers get separated from their expedition, can they cross the frozen wilderness and live to tell the tale?

i think this is the most Fictional book out of the lot. In a truly original world full of dinosaurs and fairies (but also sexism)it is very heartwarming to see the three main characters share their stories and learn to get along. I can’t believe all that imagination fit into one book !!!
Hi Jadzia. I’m so pleased you enjoyed it, especially the part about very different children learning to be friends.
I really liked the bit where Frostie’s personality changed when the children said that they had to go. I also liked the part where the children discovered a cabbage, it was absolutely shocking! I wasn’t expecting a biting cabbage in the middle of nowhere in the freezing cold! 4 Stars
Thank you! I’m glad the biting cabbages took you by surprise!
I really enjoyed reading this book. Is there a 3rd in the series yet? I found the 2nd in my school library. This is a brilliant book!
Hi China. Many thanks for your review, I’m so pleased you enjoyed the book. There will be a third one out this November called Explorers on Black Ice Bridge.
This is definitely made it to my favourite top 10. Winter is by far my favourite season and to read about polar bears and ice and ships made me happy. I loved it when they left you at a cliffhanger because it made me want to read more and more. I recommend this book to anyone who loves winter and the cold.

Hi Aizah. Thank you so much for your lovely review.
I really like winter too – it’s so cosy when it’s cold outside but you can be all tucked up at home with a good book! 🙂
I enjoyed this book because it is a mix of my two favourite genres – fantasy and adventure. My favourite character was Felix because he is kind, lively and energetic. I also like Barnie because he is funny and encouraging. 4 Stars
Hi Eddie. Many thanks for your great review. Felix is actually my favourite character as well! I think kindness is one of the most important qualities a person can have, and I like that he’s also a little bit eccentric!
