Smartáis a crime story featuring a detective with a difference. When a homeless man drowns in the canal, everyone thinks that it is an accident, but Kieran thinks otherwise. The police donÆt take any notice of his offer to help in the investigation soáKieran decides that he is going to find out what really happened.
It is not easy and could put him in danger, but Kieran has some special skills to help him. Fans of books such as The London Eye Mystery and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time will enjoy this mystery and its quirky hero.

I didn’t like this book very much because it was boring and I hate crime books.
2/5
Oh dear, hopefully you will enjoy the next book more!
Smart is a enticing book that once you start you can’t put it down. You always have a urge to find out what happens next in this fantastic piece of work. It is very different compared to others. I recommend this to children who can understand the real truth in todays world. I rate it 10/10.
How is it different to the other books nominated?
It is a really exciting book that is impossible to put down it is also really exciting guessing who did the murder and if it even was a murder. It was also interesting when we found out about the murdered homeless mans back story.
I think we should read this book in class to go with our detective topic!
I loved this book because I felt like I was Kieran, I felt like I was stuck in the book. I loved how determined, keen and caring Kieran was. He teaches younger people a message to never give up on your dreams no matter what/who stands in your way. He is extremely enthusiastic. At first I didn’t really enjoy the book, but then I began to love the characters and I wouldn’t even put the book down. I felt like this book was very realistic. I give this book 5/5 stars!
What about it made you feel like you were kieran?
Smart was a really ‘active’ book, it really felt like I was a real part of it! It relates to life as well as every day people try to act like Kieran from the book and act detective.
Well done for finding a link between this and our detective topic in class!
